Biography

EECSJim Johnson is a 1973 electrical engineering graduate of the University of California-Berkeley, and earned a master's in computer science in 1974 from Stanford. He recently retired as ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ site manager for Intel. A strong advocate of investment in education at both the K-12 and higher education levels, Johnson has embraced and supported the OSU College of Engineering's Top-25 Drive and serves on the governor-appointed Engineering and Technology Industry Council, a major driving force for gathering public and private support of engineering and computer science education in ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ. In an effort to keep top ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ high school students in the state, Johnson helped create the Intel Scholars Program, which annually selects 18 ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ high school seniors bound for engineering or computer science degrees to receive renewable $2,500 scholarships. With his wife Nancy, he established the Jim and Nancy Johnson Engineering Scholarships here at ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State University. Johnson received ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ State University's Distinguished Service Award in 2001. He is chair of the College of Engineering Advisory Board.
